Project Overview

The Company

The Problem
The internal company structure of CEI has changed since the introduction of the current site. With that, its offerings and services has expanded exponentially.

The Goal
To pitch a potential new CEI site that showcases its capabilities for potential clients.

My Role: UX Research & UI

3. Design
My task was to create various preliminary homepage & subpages to present. The goal was to get the CEO excited and to green-light the project for further development.

*My designs and preliminary research was eventually handed off to another team for later completion.

User Personas

We developed several personas to serve as our primary users. These went through several iterations during stakeholder meetings.

User Scenarios

To fully understand the narrative behind each user, the team created detailed scenarios. These describe what each user wants to do & how they plan on accomplishing that goal.

User Flows

Along with the personas, we created user flows to understand successful journeys. We had to understand viewpoints from external users as well as CEI based users.

Site Architecture

After several iterations, the team landed on this site architecture map for the proposed redesign. It was designed to showcase CEI’s services & solutions.

Exploratory Website Layouts: Each of these layouts explored different typography combinations, spacing, color and overall flow. The goal here was to experiment with the general look and feel before refinement.

Limiting photography was one our design constraints. So we used it sparingly and focused on telling a story with captivating copy, bold typography and brand colors.

Ultimately, photography was added to help retain user interest and to break up the monotony when scrolling down the landing page.

Visual Design

Our team created several preliminary website mockups to present to the stakeholders. I explored several different color schemes and layouts.

Mobile & Desktop Design Concepts
Keeping in mind the two types of users that would be visiting the site, I focused on showing content that built trust.
